The College is delighted to announce the appointment of Reverend ‘Manie’ Hermanus Strydom as Chaplain of Wesley College. He will take up his position at the start of Term 3.
Currently, Reverend Strydom serves as Chaplain at Presbyterian Ladies’ College, prior to which he has ministered in schools, churches and youth organisations in both Western Australia and South Africa.
Headmaster, Ross Barron said, ‘We are looking forward to welcoming Reverend Strydom to our community as our Chaplain as we enter an exciting chapter of Wesley College history and head towards our centenary. Reverend Strydom brings to the role a passion for actively involving students in spiritual leadership and for pastoral care of young students. He understands the powerful impact of building and nurturing a vibrant and vital spiritual community.’
In his previous position, ReverendStrydom enjoyed building positive relationships with students, staff and families through providing a safe, welcoming space in Chapel services and an authentic and relevant spirituality.
‘I am encouraged by the strong connection to the Uniting Church, the very committed staff and Council and the strong Old Wesley Collegians’ Association. I feel privileged to join a community with such an illustrious history and look forward to joining the team and striving to keep the voice of God alive and providing pastoral care,’ said Reverend Strydom.
Reverend Strydom has a Bachelor of Theology from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa specialising in Pastoral care, Clinical Pastoral Care and Youth Ministry. He also holds a graduate degree in Theology and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Stellenbosch.
