Congratulations to Year 8 students, Benjamin and Jacob Narkle, who have been selected as finalists in the Empowerment category at the 2021 NAIDOC Perth Awards.

The awards celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, communities and organisations that have achieved and excelled within the Perth community, as well as showcasing some of Western Australia’s finest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent.

Benjamin and Jacob are extremely talented actors who have appeared in TV comedy series KGB, as well as several TV commercials and theatre productions for the Black Swan Theatre Company, including their upcoming production of York, and Wesley College. They also perform in a traditional Aboriginal children’s dance group, Koolangkas Kreate, and with the Wesley College Moorditj Mob.

Drama teacher and co-director of College Musical Productions, Ms Mel Priemus said, ‘Benjamin and Jacob received two of only seven Middle School student roles in our 2021 Senior School Musical Production of Blood Brothers. Their roles required singing, acting and dancing – all of which they excelled at. Despite their young age, they formed part of a diligent team who worked through lockdown were able to overcome great adversity to perform in the live show.’

The NAIDOC Perth Awards 2021 will be held on Friday 25 June, at the Crown Towers Perth. We wish them good luck on the night!
