Wesley College Council elects new Chair

Wesley College Council has elected past Wesley parent and financial specialist Matt Braysher to serve as Chair, effective from 1 July 2021.

Mr Braysher has been a member of the Wesley College Council since 2014 and he also serves on the Council Financial Committee. Currently, he is Director of Business and Consumer – Financial Markets for one of the major Australian banks.

Retiring Chair of College Council, Jim Walker said the Council was delighted to have Mr Braysher take on this role.

‘Matt has been an instrumental member of the Council providing astute advice and expertise,’ said Mr Walker, ‘he brings extensive leadership experience and business acumen to the role. There is no doubt, Matt understands and lives Wesley’s values, culture and ethos.’

Mr Braysher said he was proud to lead one of Western Australia’s top independent schools.

‘I am grateful to the Council for its confidence in me and I am privileged to follow the exemplary leadership of Jim Walker. For more than four years, Jim has led the Council with a steady and strategic hand, we are grateful for everything he has done.

This is a tremendously exciting time for Wesley as we head into the Centenary celebrations in 2023. The loyalty and passion the community has for Wesley is palpable. I look forward to serving Wesley College and the community in my new role.’

Mr Braysher holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and also is a member of the UWA Strategic Resources committee. He is also a proud father of Wesley Old Collegians, Andrew (10-15) and Cameron (11-18) Braysher.
