Our Teacher Profile for this week is on Ms Lynette McGivern, Director of Service Learning and Leadership.
WHY DID YOU BECOME A TEACHER?
I like working with young people and helping them figure out what kind of person they want to be.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE TEACHING MEMORY?
There are so many! Seeing students who have really struggled have success in the classroom, like many did in the Murder, Music & Pop Culture course. An impromptu class rendition of Taylor Swift’s Love Story in Year 11 Politics & Law. Solving the problems of the world with students on long bus rides during tours and camps. I could go on…
WHY WESLEY?
A terrific opportunity to teach Politics & Law and be involved in community projects presented itself, so I took it.
FAVOURITE QUOTE?
‘A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination’ – Nelson Mandela.
