Mrs Therese Howarth is a Middle School teacher at Wesley College. For over 10 years, Therese has been an outstanding contributor to the Middle School journey of many Wesley students.
Why did you become a teacher?
To be honest, I had a terrible time at school with teachers that showed no understanding of how I thought differently so I decided to become a teacher to particularly help students who are unique – unique with their thinking and their personality. I love working with the young minds of the future and helping them reach for their dreams in life. I love being a part of their journey.
What’s your favourite teaching memory?
After many years of teaching and in so many parts of the world from teaching Royalty to street kids, I would have to say working with disadvantaged students around the world who had nothing and no one to go home to and making a difference for them each day. When just one student returns years later to tell you you made a difference – that’s what makes it all worthwhile.
