Our Scientist in Residence, Richard Tonello, will be talking about the mysteries of space, while engineer Chee Wong will be on hand to help your child make the best Lego model of their life!

What Have We Got Planned?

Science is all about changing and evolving, which is why we’ve changed the way we teach it. As well as our world-class teachers, every term we invite a specialist scientist to join us in Year 4 and share their knowledge across a range of subjects.

Wesley was the first school in WA to offer a Scientist in Residence, which is just one of the many reasons our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) program was recognised in the Innovative School Awards.

So, meet the scientists who will be on hand for your child while you tour the College.

Richard Tonello Astronomer

Richard has worked with NASA on their jet propulsion projects and is currently Chief Astronomer at the Gravity Discovery Centre Observatory in Gingin.

He’ll be talking to the children about space and what’s out there! Trust us, he’s a master at firing up their imaginations… and answering the most unlikely of questions!

Chee Wong Engineer

Chee has an uncanny ability to use simple language to convey very complicated ideas. His career started in the technology industry but nowadays he uses Lego to teach children the basics of engineering.

Chee will be helping the children make a space-inspired Lego model that will work in ways that we promise will surprise them!
