Sidney Win Shwe – Table Tennis Champion

Congratulations to Sidney Win Shwe in Year 9, who has been selected for the fifth year in a row to represent Western Australia (WA) in the National Junior Table Tennis Championships in Queensland this July. This year he will be playing in the Under 15 category for the WA team, in the singles and doubles.

Sidney has also been invited by Table Tennis Australia to take part in the Talent ID training camp in Brisbane in June and the Table Tennis Australia Tour competition to be held at the Sydney Olympic Park at the end of May.

Last week, he took part in Table Tennis Western Australia’s premier event, the West Coast Open Championships, and had a spectacular win across the following events:

• Under 15 Singles: Winner

• Under 19 Singles: Winner

• Mixed Open Doubles: Winner

• Men’s Open Doubles: Semi Finalist

• Men’s Open Singles: Semi Finalist

Sidney has also been awarded the following medals in recent years (noting there was no National Championship in 2020 due to COVID-19):

  • 2019 Junior Australian Championship – Gold Medalist (Under 13 boys Doubles)
  • 2018 Junior Australian Championship – Silver Medalist (Under 11 boys team), Silver Medalist (Under 13 boys team)
  • 2017 – WA Junior Player of the year
