Congratulations to our 2020 Dux of College, Raghav Ravikumara (08-20), who has been bestowed the UWA Lawrence Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to high-achieving Year 12 students who achieve an ATAR of at least 99.90. We invited Raghav back to campus for a catch-up and to congratulate him on this significant achievement.

What are you studying at UWA?

I am going to study Biomedical Science, with a direct entry to Dentistry. My older brother, Guru (07-13), is a dentist and I am keen to follow in his footsteps.

What was your favourite subject at Wesley?
I would have to say Specialist Mathematics, because Mrs Healy was such an amazing teacher. Her class felt more like a community or a family, as we were all really close. She was considerate about the workload we had from our other subjects and would check in on what else was going on in our lives.

I also liked Chemistry with Mr Rumble. He always made classes fun and enjoyable.

What were your favourite Co-curricular activities at Wesley?
I played a lot of percussion, in the Wind Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble. Highlights for me were performing the music for the College’s 2020 production of RENT and performing at the Perth Concert Hall for Wesley Takes the Stage in 2018. This was a standout experience for me as the venue is so iconic and the pieces that we performed where really cool.

I also enjoyed the sport program at Wesley. Whether it was playing for the 1st VI Volleyball Team or just watching the cricket with my friends.

What motivates you to work hard?

I have a lot of self-motivation. I never want to look back and think I missed out on trying something.

 What is your proudest accomplishment?

I have to say that being awarded Dux of College was a really proud moment for me and my family.
