Wesley College is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Nick Coatsworth to its College Council.

An Old Collegian, Dr Coatsworth attended Wesley from 1985 to 1995 and was recently inducted into the College’s Gallery of Honour.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have a passionate and experienced group of individuals serving on our College Council,” said Matt Braysher, Chair of College Council. “Nick’s exceptional insights into communication, risk management, and planning, honed through his leadership role in Australia’s COVID-19 response, will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our College.”

A highly regarded leader in the Australian health system, Dr Coatsworth has held executive positions at the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre in the Northern Territory and Canberra Health Services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Australia and Senior Technical Adviser for the Australian Government Department of Health. His calm and authoritative presence provided critical guidance and reassurance to the nation.

In 2023, Dr Coatsworth joined the Nine Network as a medical expert and is the creator and co-host of the documentary Do You Want To Live Forever? which explores the science of human longevity.

“Joining Wesley’s College Council feels like returning home,” said Dr Coatsworth. “I am excited to contribute to the school that played such a significant role in my life and education. I look forward to helping shape an innovative and inclusive environment for our students. Just as I experienced during my own time here.”

Wesley’s College Council oversees the governance, strategic direction, financial operations, and master planning programs at Wesley College.
