Academic Scholarships
Wesley College offers academic and music scholarships for entrance to Year 7 for day and boarding students. Scholarships for Year 10 are available to students not currently attending Wesley, with preference given to rural applicants. Scholarships, to the value of up to 50% fee remission, are awarded on the basis of academic merit and a personal interview with the Headmaster. Interviews are held shortly after the scholarship examination with formal scholarship offers being made shortly thereafter. Scholarships are usually awarded for the duration of schooling at Wesley College, subject to satisfactory annual review.
Boarding students who wish to apply for a scholarship for Year 8 entry should apply for a Year 7 scholarship. Successful scholarship recipients who wish to commence as Year 8 boarders are able to defer their scholarship commencement to Year 8.
Music Scholarships
Students applying for a Music Council Scholarship are required to sit the academic scholarship examination and recipients are awarded up to 50% tuition fee remission and music tuition. Students applying for an ES Craft Scholarship are awarded part remission on music fees only.
Applicants are required to apply for a music scholarship separately to an academic scholarship.
Lamont Organ Scholarship
A Lamont Organ Scholarship is available to a student between Year 5 and Year 12 to the value of 50% of the music tuition fee.
Old Wesley Collegians' Association Presidents' Award
Current or prospective students entering Year 10 are encouraged to apply for the Old Wesley Collegians' Association Presidents' Award. This award provides a 25% discount on tuition fees and is based on a student achieving solid results in academic, sporting and citizenship areas and clearly demonstrating leadership capabilities. Applicants who have been shortlisted are required to attend an interview with the Head of Senior School and representatives of the OWCA.
Note: This award does not require applicants to sit the academic scholarship examination.
Bursaries
Wesley College offers a limited number of bursaries to boys whose attainments are of high order. Usually, these bursaries offer a 25% rebate, but they can be 50% in exceptional circumstances. Applicants and their families need to demonstrate a commitment towards and empathy with an independent education in a Uniting Church context. Students who live in rural areas are given special consideration. Sons of members of the Isolated Childrens' Parents' Association are especially encouraged to apply.
