The Wesley College first XV have had a stellar start to the Public Schools Association (PSA) rugby season, defeating Scotch College 22-13 earlier this month after being down 13-0 at half time.
This placed them in equal second on the ladder with Scotch - with Hale School top of the table and undefeated.
Wesley Head of Sport Damian Kelly said although Wesley recently lost to Hale 26-5 in wet conditions, they were looking forward to the rematch on August 9, 2008 at Collins Oval, Como.
“At the moment we are obviously working towards winning all of our next games to put us in the best position to take on Hale in August,” Mr Kelly said.
“Should we be successful and also beat Hale on the day, then we could share the trophy with them. We have a great team of youngsters from Years 11 and 12, with some good Year 10s coming through as well.”
The PSA season runs for 10 weeks with seven schools in the competition - Wesley, Hale, Scotch, Aquinas, Christchurch, Guildford and Trinity.
