Eight Year 8 students from Wesley College have claimed the first ever victory for a boy's school in the WA inter-school da Vinci Decathlon competition.
The boy's will now go on to compete in the national finals of the da Vinci program at Knox Grammar in Sydney from September 29 to October 1.
As part of the decathlon, students are required to complete in a series of activities in mathematics, English, science, code breaking, engineering, forensic sleuths, creative producers, art and poetry, games of strategy and general knowledge.
The winning team consisted of Angus Paterson (13), Glenn Ng (13), Simon Bourke (12), James Menarry (12), Ramesh Arasu (12), Christopher Lau (12), Ray Barker (12) and Alex Au Yong (11).
Wesley Coach John Mirosevich said the da Vinci program provided curriculum activities designed to meet the special education needs of gifted and talented students.
“We are particularly proud of the dedication and effort that all of the boys put in while preparing for this competition,” Mr Mirosevich said.
