Wesley places great emphasis on professional development and good working relationships. This has created a supportive working environment where a teacher’s talent can be furthered and fostered. You are surrounded by inspiring and friendly staff who strive to be at the forefront of contemporary education.Mike Lans, Head of Boarding
I commenced employment at Wesley in 2005 as the Director of the Katitjin program. What stood out immediately was the pastoral focus of the College and the positive response from the students to this. The potential to advance myself both professionally and personally has also been of great benefit, as staff are actively encouraged to identify and pursue a range of professional development opportunities.Nathan Jessup, Director Katitjin Program
I’ve worked in Wesley’s Maintenance Department for eight years. Each day I respond to work requests on the school’s many facilities and programs. My various duties take me to most parts of the campus where I liaise daily with teaching, administrative and auxiliary staff. Wesley has given me guidance, encouragement and opportunities to develop new skills while working in a strong and supportive team environment. Steve Than - Maintenance Officer
I’ve been at Wesley for eight years and one of the things that has kept me here is the strong sense of community between staff members. People are genuinely concerned for each other to a much greater degree than in other places I’ve worked. Professionally, Wesley has a culture of supporting staff who want to be innovative in their approach to teaching. This makes it a great place to work. Maxine Kirk - Head of English
Wesley is a place of opportunity, not just for students but staff as well. I’ve worked in a non-teaching capacity for over a year and feel privileged to have assisted in two very important areas of the school. The Wesley community is extremely welcoming to everyone, which makes me proud to be part of it. Sharyn Lynch - Administrative Support, Boarding House
As a new teacher to Wesley in 2006 I experienced a big change coming from a small country school. Before commencing at Wesley I had some concerns that I would miss the small community feel of my previous school and that Wesley, being a much larger establishment, may not be able to generate this. My concerns were laid to rest as I soon discovered that the community feel and sense of family is a strong characteristic of the working environment at Wesley. Craig Bell - Junior School Teacher
We employ approximately 110 teaching staff and 70 non-teaching staff in the areas of grounds and property management, recreation facilities, finance, health, IT, laundry, boarding and administrative and technical support.
All our teaching and non-teaching staff create an environment that fosters diversity, community and personal endeavour. Our consistent and transparent recruitment process reflects and supports our aim of sourcing people who can undertake their job effectively while contributing to our Values, Mission and Vision. That is, people not only with the requisite skills, knowledge and competencies to undertake their particular job functions but also work towards the outcomes sought by the College.
Reading the online job description (available for most jobs) is the best way to assess your suitability and optimise your application.
The job description lists skills, experience and attributes relevant to the role. Though we’ll assess you against these criteria, you should still apply even if you don’t meet them all, because we’ll consider everything you have to offer and compare you with other applicants on the basis of your overall profile.
All jobs require a typed application letter and resume (please don’t bind or staple them).
While you don’t need to address every criterion separately in your letter, it’s good to show how you meet those most relevant to the job. This could be encompassed in the detail of your covering letter.
In your resume, include the name, title, organisation and contact number of two referees who can describe your work performance. Ideally, one should be your most recent supervisor.
Enquire or apply to the HR Manager, hr@wesley.wa.edu.au or Wesley College, PO Box 149, South Perth WA 6951.
We usually shortlist within three weeks of advertising a position. If you’re shortlisted, we’ll call you to arrange an interview and tell you who’s on the selection panel as well as any other requirements such as testing or paperwork you need to bring.
The selection panel usually includes the position’s supervisor, the HR Manager and another person who’s involved with the job. The interview process is designed to allow you to talk to us about your work history, how your experience and background meet the needs of the job, your interest in the particular role and in working at Wesley College. The interview is also an opportunity for you to find out more about the particulars of the job, the people you would be working with and the environment you would be working in.
All job offers are subject to referee and other screening checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and/or a Working With Children Check. We also require proof of your eligibility to work in Australia and depending upon the job position, proof of your qualifications.
We’ll tell you at your interview what specific items are required for your job.
We’ll acknowledge your application as soon as it is received. If you are not shortlisted, you will be advised in writing after we’ve made a decision and the successful applicant has accepted. This may take up to four weeks after the advertising for the position has closed.
